User:Moonmoon/Boreal v3
Notes for a potential rework of Boreal.
General
- Player starvation is no longer a thing, it didn't work out terribly well anyway.
- The tribe now has morale instead of a starvation tracker (although feeding the tribe remains a mechanic). Morale hitting 0 = wolf win. It starts off at 5.
- The vengeful ghost mechanic has also been removed. Voting a player out simply exiles (kills them) in all cases now. Exiling a village-sided player reduces morale by 1, while exiling a wolf-sided player increases morale by 1.
- Completely different set of (unique) totems.
- Rather than everyone being a shaman, access to give/craft/accept is just an addon on top of the player's normal role.
- There are no plain villagers, but many roles operate differently from how they do in other modes.
- Exactly which set of roles has been chosen for any individual game is not revealed in !stats.
- The game ends after day 7 with a village win if the wolves haven't managed to win by then.
- Exiling every wolf does not automatically end the game.
- The amount of sustenance the tribe requires each night is based on the number of players currently alive. Failing to give the tribe enough sustenance reduces morale by 1. Excess sustenance is lost and carries no benefit.
- Each player has a personal objective they must meet in order to win, in addition to having their team win.
- In addition to feeding the tribe, each night a crisis will occur. Failing this crisis reduces morale by 1. Exceeding the crisis by 2 increases morale by 1. The same crisis will never be chosen two nights in a row.
- During start of night, the crisis for the next day is revealed.
- Each shaman and wolf shaman begins with 3 sustenance totems and 2 other totems according to their power.
- During the nighttime, each player chooses how many totems they want to craft and can use their power. Which totems are crafted is weighted by the player's role, with not every totem type being obtainable by every player. The chances of failure or accidentally making a hunger totem increase as the player crafts more totems in a single night.
- During the daytime, each player can contribute totems to the tribe to either feed them or solve the crisis. They can also give totems to other players with the consent of the target. There is no limit to how many totems a player can give out in a or receive in a single day.
- Players may have a maximum of 8 totems in their inventory.
Totems
Totem | Effect |
---|---|
sustenance | Feeds the tribe that night (+1 food). |
hunger | Makes the tribe go hungry that night (-1 food). |
warmth | Keeps the tribe warm, if that was the night's tribe objective (+1 warmth). |
protection | Produces a spiritual barrier around the tribe, keeping them safe that night, if that was the night's tribe objective (+1 protection). |
repair | Transforms into tools and materials needed to repair the tribe house, if that was the night's tribe objective (+1 repair). |
joy | Lifts dampened spirits, preventing them from spiraling them further into despair, if that was the night's tribe objective (+1 joy). |
Commands
The give player totem
command is used to give totems to the tribe or to another player. To give a totem to the tribe, use the bot's nick as the player name. When a sustenance or hunger totem is given to the tribe, the bot will state in the channel that "X has fed the tribe." When any other totem is given to the tribe, the bot will state in the channel that "X has contributed to the crisis." (regardless of whether it actually helps with the current crisis). At the end of the day, a count of which totems were given to the tribe is printed out (but not who gave out which totem).
Giving a totem to another player requires them to accept it via accept player totem
. The player is notified that someone else wishes to give them a totem, and the name of the totem. There is no command to deny a totem, simply don't accept. You can try to give the same totem to multiple different players; the first to accept it is the one that receives it and everyone else that tries to accept will be told it is no longer available.
The craft N
command is used to create new totems. The chance of success varies by what power the shaman has, with at least one totem having a 100% chance of success.
Roles
TODO: finish this. But think of things like being able to peek at one totem at random that a target has in their inventory, getting rid of hunger totems clogging up inventories, letting someone give an additional totem next night, etc.
